ALL SQUARE AT THE BOTTOM

Havelock North Wanderers have drawn level on points with Waterside Karori at the bottom of the Ultra Football Central League after a gutsy 1-0 win at Guthrie Park on Sunday.

Gagame Feni's 36th-minute goal helped keep the Wanderers' season alive. They are now equal on 12 points with Karori in the relegation battle, but they sit a whopping 21 goals behind on goal difference, so still need results to go their way over the last three matches to avoid the drop.

Meanwhile, it was a case of as you were at the top of the table as Napier City Rovers and Western Suburbs both bagged resounding wins.

Napier beat Wellington United 4-1 at Newtown Park thanks to a hat-trick from golden boot leader Martin Bueno.

Wests needed to answer that on Sunday against Miramar Rangers to maintain the three-point gap. They did so in astounding fashion with an 8-2 thrashing. Eli Just and Callum McCowatt both bagged braces, as did Angus Kilkolly for Miramar. Miramar led 1-0 early on, but four Wests goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half put the result well beyond doubt.

Other results saw Wairarapa United beat Lower Hutt City 4-1 and Stop Out defeat Wellington Olympic 3-0.

In the Capital Premier division, Kapiti Coast United gained breathing room over the bottom two with a 2-1 win over Wellington Olympic.

That result, combined with Lower Hutt's reserves' 4-1 loss to Wests' reserves, meant two points separated Lower Hutt and Olympic at the bottom, with Kapiti now five points clear of Lower Hutt.

Island Bay United also just about ensured their safety with a 1-0 win over Tawa.

Champions North Wellington dropped points for only the second time this season when drawing 1-1 with Petone, while Upper Hutt City beat Miramar's reserves 1-0 to move into clear second.

In the W-League, Wellington United were made to work for their win over Seatoun, eventually prevailing 2-1.

Wairarapa United had a much more comfortable time against Upper Hutt City, winning 6-1.

It was a thriller in the final match as Western Suburbs came from 2-0 down to tie things up at 2- 2 with six minutes to play against Palmerston North Marist, only for Erin Carpenter to score one minute later to win it for the hosts.

In the Women's Premier League, Waterside Karori snuck past Brooklyn Northern United 1-0 to move one step closer to the title.

Wellington United's reserves and Victoria University both recorded 4-0 wins over Petone and Stop Out respectively, while Kapiti Coast United ran out 12-1 winners against Island Bay United.
