Capital Football are disappointed to announce the cancellation of the 2021 National Age Group Tournament, due to be held this December in Wellington.

Yesterday the participating Federations met to discuss the ever-changing Covid-19 situation. It became clear due to the uncertainty of the new traffic light system, vaccination rates, and the regional spread of the virus, the health and safety of participants were at risk. Based on this information the decision was made to cancel the tournament.    

We understand this will be a disappointing decision for all the players, coaches, and referees involved, especially after the many cancellations we have had over the past two years. 2022 will bring a new national competition structure for our youth players across the country and this will be communicated at a later date.

Capital Football’s NAGT squads will continue their training programme and will play in the scheduled friendly matches against Central Football and the Wellington Phoenix over the coming weekends.
If the Covid-19 situation remains steady within our region, Capital Football will look to explore all opportunities for our Capital squads to play later this year. We will provide more detailed information early next week.
