Capital Football welcomes Sarah Alder as Federation Development Officer – Futsal Lead

Capital Football is delighted to announce that Sarah Alder will be joining the organisation as Federation Development Officer – Futsal Lead, the role recently vacated by Toby Wilton.

Sarah is a well-renowned and respected futsal figure throughout the Capital Football region and beyond. Having represented the Futsal Ferns as well as Capital Football’s Women’s SuperLeague team she barely needs an introduction. As well as Sarah’s futsal playing, she is known for her commitment to the game both on and off the court, alongside an illustrious football playing career.

Sarah has a tremendous understanding of futsal in the region and fully understands how Capital Football has been at the forefront of the game in New Zealand for many years. Alongside this Sarah has a great passion for developing the grassroots of futsal, ensuring that the game is in the best possible place to continue to thrive and grow.

Federation Development Manager, Steeve Sharpe is excited for Sarah to begin “we are excited to be able to bring in a person of Sarah’s calibre into the role. She has the respect of the futsal community throughout the country, let alone the Capital Football region. Futsal has continued to grow across several years, which has been great to see but we are looking forward to Sarah having the opportunity to continue to maintain this growth whilst leading the game in a positive manner.”

Sarah is looking forward to beginning the role in the coming months. "I'm incredibly proud to be stepping into this role with Capital Football. Futsal has played a huge part in my journey, and I'm passionate about continuing to grow the game across the region, from grassroots through to our high-performance pathways."

Sarah will begin the role full-time on Monday 13th July 2026, however she will be involved in futsal prior to then, most notably alongside the Capital Football Futsal SuperLeague Women and Men’s teams who look to finish the season on a high later this month. In the interim, Capital Football has some additional support to help in a futsal capacity with Josh McDougall and Tayla Burdan assisting respectively.
