James Farr is the new Player Welfare Officer for the Capital Football region. His role is to help support the Capital Federation, our affiliated clubs and schools through implementation and delivery of all components of the Player Welfare Programme known as Fit4Football. This includes supporting our football communities from participation through to performance and to grow coaches, volunteers and other providers’ understanding of how to get the most from players.

Enhanced performance and reduction in incidence and severity of all football injuries throughout New Zealand has always been Fit4Football’s primary directive and this is still of the upmost importance to the success of the Federation and New Zealand Football.

James’s background is from working as a strength and conditioning coach in multiple sports, most recently being part of the Hurricanes’ 2018 Super Rugby campaign. This experience and academic background as a sport scientist is crucial to helping the Fit4Football programme develop in the Capital region and he is extremely keen to help and advance the already high quality of clubs that fall into Capital Football’s region.
