CAPITAL PREMIER FUTSAL LEAGUE

Capital Football is excited to continue our Capital Futsal Premier Draft Leagues for our premier male and female futsal players in Term 1 2023. With the number of changes to the national futsal calendar, there is a real opportunity and desire to offer a sustainable pathway into Capital’s Men’s and Women’s SuperLeague programmes.

Creating a competitive environment for players across the region underpins this pathway therefore Capital Football have developed a league system in order to manage this. The below variables have been introduced:

  • A player ‘draft’ system to form all teams
  • Full court
  • Stop clock
  • Appointed coaches
  • Match Officials – x3 point control
  • Livestreamed
  • Team uniforms provided

Registrations are now OPEN FOR TERM 1 2023!

If you have any enquiries about the league, please send this to libby@capitalfootball.org.nz

HOW DOES THE DRAFT WORK?

At the completion of the player registration window, appointed coaches will be provided with a full list of every player who has registered to carry out the draft selection process.

Coaches will select a total of 12 players for their team, two of which are goalkeepers (subject to registrations) using a ‘snake draft system’. In a snake draft, each team coach has one pick in each round (12 rounds). Each coach makes their first-round pick based on a predetermined order. When the first round is over, the coach that picked last in the first-round picks first in the second round — in other words, the draft snakes back on itself.

The drafted players must confirm their position in the team by 5pm 1 February. Once players have confirmed their position, they will be invoiced and payment must be made by 12 February.

  • Players who are not drafted can choose to be classed as 'Emergency Players'.
  • Emergency Players can be called into action to replace any player who suffers an injury, or illness but will only be available for that team for the remainder of the competition.
  • Emergency players “buy out” the remaining games from the player they are replacing.
