Capital Football is sad to inform of Katie Barrott’s departure from her position as Federation Development Officer – Junior & Youth Framework at the end of September 2022. However, we are delighted that Katie will remain as Head Coach for the Capital Football Girls’ U18 squad partaking in the Youth National League until the end of the season (30th October 2022).

Katie has received an excellent offer from the Wellington Phoenix to move to the organisation as Lead of the female development programme and her desire to follow this opportunity is supported by Capital Football. Since the beginning of 2020, Katie has worked for Capital Football on a full-time basis delivering a continued high quality of work related to her junior and youth portfolios. She has been at the forefront of delivery with her club support and has a tremendous will to see all players receive the very best opportunities. Prior to being a full-time staff member, Katie was a familiar face having coached in the Federation Talent Centre programme and across several women’s and girls’ initiatives.

Federation Development Manager, Steeve Sharpe is sorry to see Katie move on but pleased to see the opportunity she is moving onto with the Wellington Phoenix.

“Capital Football has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Katie’s development as a person this past two and a half years and we have benefitted from this as an organisation as well. Katie has a fantastic can-do attitude and has always pursued providing quality engagement in everything she does. Whether this be delivering coaching courses, sessions at events, bringing enthusiasm and positivity to festivals through to launching initiatives such as ‘Kicking with Capital’, ‘Let Them Play’ and Walking Football – Katie, has achieved huge amounts and moves on with our blessing.”

Although departing the position shortly, Capital Football is pleased to see the girls involved with the U18’s squad still benefitting from Katie’s continued involvement to the season end. Capital Football wishes Katie all the very best in her role with the Wellington Phoenix and we look forward to continuing to see her involved with football in the region.
