Update on Community Coaching Courses for 2024

Capital Football would like to provide a short update to clubs and coaches, on changes to the Community Coaching Pathway for 2024.

Having undergone a review into the Community Coaching Pathway last year, New Zealand Football (NZF) is set to launch a revised structure for the coming season. The essence of the community coaching courses will remain the same whereby coaches come together to learn and gain a relevant qualification. The following is the main points:

  • Participants will be able to consume parts of courses online alongside an in-person practical component via a newly launched NZF Learn platform.
  • Football, Futsal and Goalkeeping components will be integrated into the new Level One community courses removing duplication and ensuring key learning is shared across different disciplines.
  • The Senior Level One Coaching Award and Junior, Youth, and Futsal Level Two Coaching Awards will remain the same for 2024.
  • The new Junior, Youth and Futsal Level One Coaching Awards will be available from 1st April 2024.

We are excited by the changes which will provide a timely refresh for community coaching courses. It will offer coaches the opportunity to learn in their own time, whilst still holding onto the most important part of a course: the in-person engagement with peers, educators and the quality conversations which take place at those times.

Federation Development Officer (Club Support Lead), Maika Ruyter-Hooley, who will be leading coach education begins with Capital Football on Monday 19th February 2024, shortly thereafter a calendar with courses will be released on our website. We also welcome clubs to get in touch should they like to arrange dates any courses or if you have any queries – maika@capitalfootball.org.nz
