Capital Football is pleased to welcome Kathrynn Jelas into the role of Competitions Coordinator – Senior. The role will be responsible for all competition management of Capital Football’s senior competitions, including Men’s and Women’s Central Leagues. Capital Football competitions continue to grow, and they play a critical role in supporting the pathway in the Capital region for players, coaches and referees.
Kathrynn will be the primary contact for all senior competitions in 2025 with Georgina Gatenby going on maternity leave for the season and Blair Duncan transitioning into the Partnerships Manager role. She will be supported by the wider Capital Football team with Blair overseeing Operations until Georgina returns to work.
Kathrynn started with Capital Football on the 14th January and everyone is excited to have her on board as we know she will be a valuable addition to our Operations Team. Jelas joins the team with great experience, local knowledge, excellent relationship management skills and strong administration expertise. She has worked as Sports Co-ordinator at both Tawa College and Samuel Marsden and more recently as the Tournament Lead at Basketball NZ. In her role at Basketball NZ, Kathrynn was responsible for all National Tournaments and worked closely with the numerous associations involved.
Capital Football’s Partnerships Manager Blair Duncan said “Kathrynn comes to us with great experience from a similar role at Basketball New Zealand, she brings a passion for sport and has well established connections in the Wellington sporting landscape. She has all the technical abilities to succeed in the role, but I believe it will be her personality and ability to create strong relationships that make her excellent addition to Capital Football whānau."
Kathrynn’s thoughts on her new role are “I am excited to work at a regional level, which will allow me to be more involved within the sporting community and help to continue to develop the high standard of football competitions that we have in our region. While I am not a footballer myself, I am eager to learn and understand how clubs operate, and work together to keep football thriving."
Kathrynn will be communicating with clubs from this week and Capital Football knows everyone will make her feel welcome in the football whānau.
