Football News | Morrissey and Holmes to Pursue Football Careers

Capital Football wishes to announce Sam Morrissey and Callum Holmes are moving on to further pursue and develop their footballing careers.

Sam has been with Capital Football for two and a half years and has been leading  the “Coach Education” portfolio throughout his time here.  A constant  for the Wairarapa Clubs, Sam also worked beside Emma Evans as an assistant coach on two National Women’s League campaigns and as a head coach for the National Age Group Tournament. Sam will be staying in football as he has accepted the Director of Junior Coaching position at Waterside Karori which will start in mid-August.

Callum, who  took over at the start of 2019 as Futsal Development Officer, has been a key figure within  this area as well as being the  Capital Futsal National League Head coach for the past three years. After three and a half years at Capital Football, Callum has decided to pursue his passion for coaching by accepting a full-time position with the Wellington Phoenix Academy.

Steeve Sharpe, Capital Football’s Federation Development Manager, was sad to see both Sam and Callum leave after being integral parts of the team, but pleased that they are continuing to develop their football careers.

“They have both been assets to the staff  here at Capital Football.”

“To know that both will be continuing to pursue and develop their respective football careers is fantastic and we wish them the best with their respective endeavours.”

Capital Football is pleased  to welcome Tom Withnall into the Futsal space in a part time capacity as a  until October, when he will increase to full time hours through to the office closing at the end of the year. Tom has an abundance of experience in futsal and is already a familiar face around the courts, having both played in the Futsal National League for Capital and coached at the Youth Futsal Championships, most recently here at the ASB Sports Centre in July.

Further plans regarding Capital Football organisational structure  will be released in due course.
